MPD AUDIT PLANNED FOR MEMBERSHIP

2009 Compliance Monitoring

General members will recall that this year their annual declaration form included a separate attestation to their compliance with the Mandatory Professional Development requirements for 2009.1  This replaced the former method of manually logging hours on the old PD website (now closed).2

Adding the attestation of compliance to the declaration procedure greatly simplified the monitoring compliance processes and administration for both CAIRP and the Members.

Members were advised that member declaration filings were subject to audit based on a selection of members in order to verify compliance. In the coming weeks, the Association will be selecting for audit a random selection of members for purpose of obtaining a detailed reporting form related to actual MPD undertaken during the 2009 program year.

Members selected for audit must return the provided reporting form to CAIRP within 30 days of issuance. The reporting form will have sections for the member to fill out specifics on the MPD hours fulfilled in 2009, including the relevant date, provider, type of activity and hours earned. A copy of the MPD Guidelines will also be provided as a convenient reminder of eligible activities.

Members must report on a minimum of 20 hours, including 7 hours of active participation. As with the data formerly collected from the website, these reports will be kept on file for the member concerned and then archived on an annual basis.
The CAIRP bylaws define strict terms of compliance and we encourage all members selected for audit to return the reporting form promptly, and no later than 30 days after issuance of the request for information.
